Fraxel Co2 Laser Skin Resurfacing
San Diego, California
Recent advances in laser technologies have improved the safety and efficacy of a wide range of cosmetic procedures. Today's laser devices and techniques can target specific areas with a degree of precision previously unheard of. Nowhere are these advances more notable than in laser skin resurfacing.
Using custom calibrated lasers, today's cosmetic professionals can treat a variety of skin problems safely, precisely, and noninvasively, targeting and eliminating damaged skin and stimulating new skin growth, so that you are left with a softer, smoother, younger-looking complexion.
Some of the unique benefits of laser skin treatment include:
- Laser skin treatment can be customized to the individual, so that only specific areas are treated.
- Laser skin treatment not only targets already damaged skin, but it also stimulates collagen production, which helps to restore a youthful complexion.
The Fraxel Co2 Skin Resurfacing Laser Procedure
The Fraxel Co2 is a fascinating innovation that improves your appearance by affecting only a small fraction of your skin at a time with literally thousands of tiny microscopic laser spots. These tiny, but deep, columns of treatment are called microscopic “treatment zones.”
Treatment with the Fraxel Co2 Laser totally eliminates old epidermal pigmented cells and penetrates deep into the dermis. Surrounding tissue is left completely unaffected by the laser. This “fractional” treatment allows the skin to heal faster than if an entire area were treated all at once.
At your consultation, we will determine the best treatment plan for you based on the thorough evaluation our doctor and team will perform. The Fraxel Co2 Laser treatment is one treatment only, not a series of treatments over time as with other lasers.
To prepare for the treatment, the area to be lasered will be washed thoroughly, and a topical anesthetic will be applied to the area approximately one hour prior to the treatment to give time for the anesthetic to take full effect. Patients may also be given (if needed) what is called “twilight” I.V. sedation, which is a light sedation. General anesthesia is not used for Fraxel Co2 laser treatments. After the treatment, the anesthetic ointment will be washed off your face (or other treatment area).
You may experience a mild sunburn-like sensation following treatment and some discomfort. Your skin will have a pinkish tone for several days. There will also be swelling for several days.
We will provide you with detailed instructions on after-care for a Fraxel Co2 laser treatment.
